From January to February 2023, Tsinghua High School and its sister school, Hong Kong St. Paul's Girls' and Boys' Secondary School, launched an online exchange program for more than a month。Ten students from each school took part in the exchange。

Students' impressions:

In this winter holiday, I had the honor to communicate with a Hong Kong middle school student。My exchange partner was a very smart and caring girl. She introduced Hong Kong's education system to us, and let me know that they would get early exposure to chemistry and have an extra social class than we did. At the same time, I also shared with her the education model in Beijing。Besides, we talked about many interesting topics。We have a lot of respect for each other's cultural background, which makes us understand each other better。These exchanges enabled us to get to know each other better, highlighted the importance of cultural diversity in promoting communication, understanding and friendship among people, and gave me a deeper understanding of the campus culture and daily life of Hong Kong secondary schools。I am sure this exchange will be a good chapter in our friendship and we are looking forward to our next meeting。

Through four online exchanges, my Hong Kong classmates and I got to know each other better at the beginning, and finally made an agreement reluctantly。We shared and discussed topics such as Spring Festival customs, local culture, campus life, food travel, Chinese learning, dreams and planning。Although they have never met before, they have a common language among their peers, and every communication is very enjoyable。Through these four exchanges, I have learned a lot of knowledge, broadened my horizons, and seen the shining points of my peers, which will guide my future efforts。At the same time, I also felt very honored to share and introduce a lot of traditional culture and customs of my hometown and Beijing to my Hong Kong student, which made her more interested in the extensive and profound Chinese culture。The online exchange activities have made me gain a lot: from our initial acquaintance to familiarity, to encouraging each other and agreeing to work together, we look forward to the end of middle school and happy reunion in Tsinghua Park!

During the winter vacation, I had one-on-one online communication with my classmates from Sao Paulo Boys' and Girls' Middle School. From being shy strangers when we met for the first time, we became friends who talked about everything。Our topics ranged from hobbies, Spring Festival customs, campus life and course learning to travel, cooking and life. We all looked forward to visiting each other's cities。We also visited each other's schools online and greeted each other's classmates。I learned that St. Paul's School for Boys and Girls was founded in 1915, the same year as our school, and is also a school with a long history。I told her about the history of our school, its motto and the famous people who had come out of the school。It is my honor and pleasure to participate in the exchange activities between the two universities. Through the exchange, I have a deeper reflection on the cultural background, customs and ways of thinking of the two places。I hope that I can experience the study and life there in person in St. Paul's Boys' and Girls' Secondary School in Hong Kong in the future, so that I can have a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the urban landscape and cultural customs of Hong Kong。

I was a little apprehensive before I made my first call。I am afraid that the other person will be difficult to get along with, or personality is not right。But after that first conversation, I knew my fears were misplaced。She always wears a gentle smile, a distinctive Hong Kong accent and a soft voice。Unlike me, who was eager to share with her every new thing I saw, she often listened intently to my ideas and ideas, nodded positively in response to me, and the communication with her exercised my communication and listening comprehension ability。She gave me a lot of confidence to speak English and express my ideas。She also inspired me with her thoughts on the future career。We agreed to meet when we were in each other's cities。A single spark can start a prairie fire。Still enthusiastic, looking forward to our next meeting。
