Tsinghua High School students won the 13th Beijing Youth Science and Technology Innovation Mayor Award

On March 9, 2015, the 13th "Beijing Youth Science and Technology Innovation Mayor Award" (hereinafter referred to as the "Mayor Award") was announced, and Miao Xiang, a student from Class 1215 of the High School attached to Tsinghua University, won the award。A total of 10 students from Beijing won the award。The Mayor Award presentation ceremony will be held on March 27, 2015 at the 35th Beijing Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition held at Beijing 101 High School。

The candidates participating in the Mayor Award selection are all winners of the title and first prize of this year's "Tomorrow's Little Scientist" award activity and the first prize of the National Innovation Competition。Miao Xiang won the first prize in the 29th National Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition held in August 2014,The title of her essay is "Purification of chromium-containing wastewater from Porcine Bone and its application in lithium-ion Batteries".,The brief content of this paper is: using pig bone as raw material,Porous carbon with nanopore was prepared,It is also used in the purification of wastewater containing hexavalent chromium,Good purification effect was obtained.The application of chromium-adsorbed porous carbon to the negative electrode of lithium-ion battery is proposed,The first specific discharge capacity of 800 mAh/g is obtained,This proposed a new way for post-treatment of chromium-containing wastewater by porous carbon adsorption,A new method for preparing negative electrode materials for lithium ion batteries is provided。

The selection of "Mayor Award" was co-sponsored by Beijing Science and Technology Association, Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission,It is held once a year,It is the highest honor of Beijing youth science and technology innovation activities,The aim is to encourage young people to actively participate in scientific and technological innovation activities,To reward the city's youth with outstanding achievements,Encourage them to further carry out in-depth and assiduous scientific research,Promote the training of scientific and technological reserve personnel。The selection of the "Mayor Award" has a very strict procedure, and the scientific literacy of the finalists is also very high。From 2008 to 2012, it was five Mayor awards and five Mayor nomination awards, and from 2013, it was 10 Mayor awards and two Mayor nomination awards。
